SESSION DESCRIPTION

Infection prevention measures are fairly standard and have not changed much over recent years, yet in many health care settings they are not consistently practiced. This session will review common assumptions, workflow designs and cultural issues that result in unreliable and inconsistent use of infection prevention measures.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Summarize common assumptions about staff training and competency with infection prevention standards
Describe how human error contributes to inconsistency with infection prevention measures
Describe how local culture within a practice can affect staff use and input on infection prevention measures
